A cantora e compositora Beth Orton anunciou o lançamento de seu novo álbum, “The Ground Above”, para o dia 26 de junho, pelo selo Partisan. Junto com a notícia, a artista britânica disponibilizou o single “Waiting”, que já está disponível.
“The Ground Above” sucede o trabalho de 2022, “Weather Alive”, e já havia sido precedido pela faixa-título. Sobre “Waiting”, Orton afirmou que a canção “é uma celebração de sair do padrão de espera em que o medo nos mantém”.
Assim como em seu álbum anterior, “Weather Alive”, Beth Orton assumiu a autoprodução de “The Ground Above”. O disco conta com a participação de diversos músicos, incluindo o multi-instrumentista Shahzad Ismaily, Sam Beste do Vernon Spring, os bateristas Chris Vatalaro (Antibalas, Radiohead) e Vishal Nayak (Nick Hakim), Paul Butler (The Bees e Michael Kiwanuka), o trompetista Christos Styliande, o baixista Tom Herbert e Dave Okumu.
