Fontaines D.C e Ezra Collective lideraram a 15ª edição do AIM Independent Music Awards em 23 de setembro, em Londres, reforçando a vitalidade da cena independente britânica.
O grupo irlandês Fontaines D.C. conquistou o troféu de Melhor Álbum Independente com “Romance”, lançado pela XL Recordings. A mesma gravadora ainda levou o título de Melhor Selo Independente, somando duas vitórias na noite.
Já o quinteto londrino Ezra Collective recebeu o prêmio de Melhor Faixa Independente por “God Gave Me Feet For Dancing”, parceria com Yazmin Lacey distribuída pela Partisan Records. Entre os destaques individuais, o veterano Gilles Peterson foi agraciado com o prêmio Outstanding Contribution to Music, reconhecimento por mais de quatro décadas de atuação como DJ, radialista e fundador de gravadora.
A cerimônia também apontou nomes em ascensão. BINA. foi eleita One To Watch e agradeceu “o reconhecimento e a empolgação pelo futuro”. O saxofonista corto.alto ficou com o troféu de UK Independent Breakthrough, enquanto Shed Seven foi coroado Melhor Artista ao Vivo.
Entre as iniciativas que sustentam o setor, Wax & Beans (Bury) ganhou como Melhor Loja de Discos, e o coletivo ESEA Music foi reconhecido na categoria DEI Champion. Ao encerrar o evento, a CEO da AIM, Gee Davy, afirmou que a premiação celebrou “a liberdade criativa, a resiliência e o espírito inovador” que definem o universo independente.
